The Yerka lab (University of Nevada, Reno, USA) has an immediate opening for a full-time postdoctoral researcher with experience in genetic transformation and analysis of pollen-pistil interactions, preferably (but not required) in sorghum or other grass species. Funding of this position is secure for up to three years and includes money to travel to scientific conferences to present data each year. Candidates must commit to a minimum of two years. Required knowledge and skills for this position include sterile laboratory techniques, excellent data organization and analysis, assay development, and use of appropriate experimental designs. Candidates with strong publication records in pollen-pistil analyses will be given priority. Familiarity with computational biology and bioinformatics is highly desired, but training will be available if not. Candidates lacking computational skills will be expected to complete a course in bioinformatics within six months of starting. Please send a CV, publication list, list of three work references, and a cover letter including a one-paragraph description of career goals to Dr. Melinda Yerka at myerka@unr.edu
